What bike do you ride and how much have you abused it?

I (Diesel) currently am riding a P2 with a 2001 monster on the front…just because that’s all I have for parts left that work and money for the bike budget is tight.

In the past I have rode two different Super 8’s and a Straight 6 Yeti which are all broken and not worth repairing.

So with that said, I am still looking for a new FS ride, but not really sure what to buy…so will just keep polishing my shitty skills on my hardtail.

I understand that many times, because of budget, peeps only have one bike to ride which is ridden for trails, urban,DH, whatever. But I've noticed over the last few yrs more and more peeps buying big over suspended bikes and mainly trailriding them. These peeps are riding 2-3days a week usually seeing a lift once or twice a year. Believe me when I say that a 5"ish bike with quality parts will be more fun, more efficient, more rider friendly than the big bike. GET OFF THE BIG BIKES! and you will find harmony with the trail. Every rock and root becomes a kicker, every slight roll an excuse to manual, blowdown a bunnyhoppers dream, climbs become fun no longer a nightmare. I ride my hardtail and my 5"er, as do better riders than myself, on and off everthing around here. If I can do it you can too. Leave the big bikes for the mountain. You'll be glad you did.

I agree with "BTF's" comment above. 5" or 6" max FS trail bike is the way to go. Since I went back to my hardtail, the trails have become more fun.

I would have loved to have gotten a 5.5 inch travel bike...but, I just did not have the money. I bought what I could afford...A Gary Fisher KingFisher 1/2 (fisher 1 frame, fisher 2 components). It was on sale from $2200 down to $1300. I could not find any 5-6 inch bike for that money. I broke my 5 inch dulie...so, I also wanted somthing that would not break. To be honest, all I do is 5' wheelie drops and 5' hucks. But, the second I stepped on this 7" steed, I began to do stuff I never would have done. It climbs better than my 5 inch bike but also weighs 42 lbs...Yes, it is too much bike for me, I know. But it has really upped my confidence and I now can't wait to try some drops at B&T's that I've always been afraid of. Also, before I would wheelie drop everything, now, I search for things to huck FSA.

Sorry if that was a rant. Anyway, yes, it is a big bike, bigger than I need, but I already seeing the beifits of it. I now have much more confidence and it pedals fine, I get a better workout.

All that matters is that your out there riding and having fun. It does not matter what bike you have as long as it works well and you love it.

PS, a 2006 Enduro is 6+ inches o' travel...BTF.

-Just playin' round.

Hey, BTF...

I saw you at MT.Snow, you race?

Oh, you may hate your Enduro but my 16 year old friend loves his 2006 S-Works.
and I don't see him complaining...

He hucks lots of your stuff at B+T's, and he has never complained that it's too XC.

"PS, a 2006 Enduro is 6+ inches o' travel...BTF"

Sorry if I was not clear. You said you have a HT and a 5 inch bike...

according to Spec site, a '06 Enduro has "Fox DHX Air 5.0 shock with external rebound, Bottom Control and ProPedal adjustment, twin sleeve, *150mm travel
110-150mm travel* Fox 36R Talas fork, external rebound adjustment, 20mm thru axle, alloy steerer..."

Do your research...a inch of "travel" is also 25mm of travel.

5x25 = 125mm of travel
But wait, the site says an Enduro has 150mm o' travel...
150/25 = 6 inches!!!

Okay, just poking fun at the guy with cool bikes and a cool backyard.

I have many bikes. Not just a 6"and a hardtail.

I said "5ish"

150mm is about 5.78"

the enduro has a too steep head angle. To low BB. To long TT. I picked it up to get me by till the new Sinister shows up...May be awhile.

"He hucks lots of your stuff at B+T's, and he has never complained that it's too XC." glad he likes it.....I hate mine. wanna buy it? I hope he's got permission to ride out back.....

naa, don't race. I don't have the patience for it. And I'm to god damn old...

Going back to basics with mountain biking. I found hardtails to be fun again, so I decided to purchase a Goatbike frame since it is designed to handle the abuse of Lynn Woods.

I will not be getting into Trials riding, but I will for sure have fun with this new bike.

You probably did not understand my message above (just bored) but I was wondering if you have the bike yet. If so, what fork do you plan to put on it.

Tina is getting one too, right?
Hope you'll get to ride it / them before the snow.

So how about a lock up tail so it can be hard for climbing and soft for those drop offs.

I'm sure I can break anything any ...

an indestructable bike would be nice

I ride a Chumba XCL... only had it for 8 months, but I rode [fell] off a 25 foot cliff at Bootleg Canyon in NV and the bike was fine(although my face was not!).

Its a super burly bike.. probaly the one of the most built up 5" bikes on the market.
